Stabilisation of cold-adapted lipases and their consumer-product applications

Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY OF EXETER
Department Name: Biosciences

Abstract

The project will be involved in identifying novel enzymes from extremophilic bacteria and archaea that have improved properties for use in the detergent and healthcare sector. Specifically enzymes isolated from psychrophilic organisms that are favoured for sustainable cold water washing will be a priority. An improved over-expression platform for psychrophilic enzymes at high yield will be developed. The highest priority enzymes will be characterised both biochemically and structurally allowing a rational approach for improved stability.
