Abstract
Cardiac arrhythmia are the most comment cardiac disease causing morbidity and mortality. They are characterised by irregular electrical excitation waves propagating in the heart, which impair cardiac mechanical contraction of the tissue, leading to failure of blood circulation. However, it is incompletely understood yet the mechanism underling arrhythmogenesis and/or the electrical-mechanical uncoupling in the heart failure condition. In this project, we aim to develop a novel computer model of the heart by integrating cardiac imaging, electrophysiology and biomechanics into an integral computational platform. The developed model will be used to investigate the electromechanics of the heart in the setting of heart failure condition. The output of which will increase our understanding the pro-arrhythmic effects of heart failure, which has some important clinical relevance.
