An exploration of mental health in adolescent pregnancy and HIV, focusing on adolescent mothers and their HIV infected and affected children in SA

Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
Department Name: Institute for Global Health

Abstract

This will be the first study in Africa to provide a detailed understanding of HIV in relation to adolescent pregnancy and the next generation experiencing HIV. It focuses on a particularly, hard to reach group, adolescents (mothers and fathers) and their children affected by HIV. This group is substantially underserved with regard to mental health provision and research is required to inform health policy and scalable interventions to promote improved outcomes for these young people and their children.
