Description In December 2021 - February 2022 I participated in expedition 391 of the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP). Through this participation, I became familiar with offshore operations from an operational to logistical manner. I participated first-hand in real-time how deep marine sediment and seawater samples are collected and how they are initially processed to provide a whole suite of preliminary data. I also built up a large, new scientific network which will be invaluable when applying for postdocs.
Exploitation Route Scientific network purposes and future research collaborations based on IODP samples.

Environment

Description Whilst offshore I kept a nautical log of activities of offshore operation on expedition 391 of the International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP). This explains offshore operations and personal experiences of living offshore in layman language. It has been used to educate family and friends and could be developed into a short novel.
