Profiling Cytochrome P450 Enzymes Using Chemical Probes

Lead Research Organisation: University of Oxford
Department Name: Interdisciplinary Bioscience DTP

Abstract

CYP450s are a superfamily of enzymes responsible for phase I metabolism and biosynthesis across the tree of life. CYP450s are understudied in plants and a greater knowledge of the key players would allow for more informed design of plant protection products (herbicides, fertilisers, insecticides). The project outlined herein aims to develop a probe library for use in the studying of these enzymes. Traditional chemical synthesis methods will be employed and, following routine biological evaluation, next generation probes will be designed and synthesised throughout the project.
