The role of the 'Fostering Self' model in supporting foster placement stability for Looked After children: an Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis

Abstract
The study will explore, examine, and provide detailed analysis of the lived experiences of foster carers within a local authority setting, in order to understand the role of the Fostering Self model of identity in supporting placement stability for children and young people in local authority care. Semi-structured interviews will be undertaken with foster carers and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis used to explore intersubjectivity between participant, phenomenon, and researcher co-construct and change the meaning of each other. The interviews will explore any challenges the foster carers may have experienced in the application of the model and make recommendations for future implementation.
