The Social Shaping of Geological Science

Abstract

In this studentship, Amgueddfa Cymru-National Museum of Wales (AC-NMW) and the School of Social Sciences, Cardiff university (Socsi), join together to explore an archive that is of central interest to staff at both institutions: the De La Beche archive. This project invites the application of STS concepts and methods to archival materials within AC-NMW, drawing on materials that are normally used by museum curators and historians; the necessary curatorial and historical expertise will be made available to the successful applicant.
