'Illegality', race and subjectivity: being an undocumented migrant in contemporary Italy

Abstract

The research aims to investigate the socio-political productions of race, space and migrants 'illegality', and how they converge in defining undocumented migrants' subjectivity. The research will addopt a critical phemenological approach by integrating an analysis of the socio-political and juridical dynamics through which 'illegality' is produced by the state, with the examination of the impact that being undocumented and cast as 'the other' bears on the practices and experiences of everyday life.
