Monitoring and Evaluating the Impact of Mainstreaming Violence against Women and Girls in Development Projects

Lead Research Organisation: University of Portsmouth
Department Name: School of Languages & Area Studies

Abstract

To test a number of contexts in monitoring and evaluation of the impact of mainstreaming a violence against women and girls lens in development projects:

To identify the types of violence most commonly experienced by women and girls programme recipients
To establish the extent to which these types of violence are commonly talked about and acknowledged to be unjust and abusive and what level of normalisation exists
To understand the type of cultural and social constraints women face in the project context.
To establish what resources and forms of social and cultural capital already exist (e.g. through established community groups) is needed in advance of programme design.
