Abstract

Brief description of the context of the research including potential impact;

This project investigates the potential of new encoding schemes based on enumerative combinatorics. We investigate such potential in terms of wireless communication and try to use these encoding schemes to improve wireless networks. Thus, in the project, we study enumerative combinatorics and existing encoding techniques in detail. Moreover, combinatorial tools such as set partitioning and integer partitioning are aimed to be effectively used in the codebook design to embed additional information and increase the information rate in the communication systems. On the other hand, the project seeks an answer to the question of how effective the encoding schemes are in designing ultra-reliable, low-complexity, and ultra-fast communication networks. The limits of these encoding schemes are also investigated in terms of error and data rate performance to provide a better understanding of these concepts. Hence, these novel encoding schemes have the potential of improving error performance and increasing information rate compared to the existing encoding techniques. Furthermore, they have the potential to be employed efficiently with current communication systems.

Aims and objectives;

In the project, we aim to design new efficient encoding techniques by using enumerative combinatorics. We intend to improve wireless communication networks by employing these encoding techniques in codebook design. We also aim to show the effectiveness of these concepts by providing theoretical, numerical, and simulation results. In this regard, we plan to study key performance indicators for a communication system such as bit error rate and achievable rate and to investigate the potential benefits in terms of these indicators for the encoding schemes. The applications of the proposed concepts to well-known communication techniques are also aimed to be studied and the question of whether the combinatorial encoding schemes are suitable for the current systems are investigated.

Novelty of the research methodology;

Novelty of our research comes from the fact that the combinatorial tools like set partitioning and integer partitioning are not considered for codebook design, to the best of our knowledge. Therefore, in this project, enumerative combinatorics and its tools are used to design novel encoding schemes for wireless communication networks. Then, these schemes are used to improve these networks in terms of error performance and information rate. Moreover, new theoretical, numerical, and simulation results are provided for error performance and data rate of the communication systems.
