Migrant Women and Creative Arts: Building Resilience in Glasgow and Stoke-on-Trent

Lead Research Organisation: University of Manchester
Department Name: Arts Languages and Cultures

Abstract

This project explores how migrant women negotiate the ambivalent experience of being resilient subjects through the creative arts produced in the context of non-governmental organisations (NGOs). This research will focus on women based in Glasgow and Stoke-on-Trent because both cities represent the different approaches adopted by NGOs in the largest dispersal areas of migrants in the UK. The term 'migrants' here refers to any displaced person and includes: migrants, refugees, and asylum seekers.
