Applying distillation approximation to heavy-light quark decays

Lead Research Organisation: University of Edinburgh
Department Name: Sch of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

Michael is beginning his research by making an addition to Grid (the Lattice QCD code used by RBC-UKQCD) to implement distillation, which is a numeric approximation in the construction of meson fields and hence n-point correlation functions which delivers speed and convergence improvements by calculating with only the most significant eigenvectors of the inverse of the Dirac matrix. The intention is to apply distillation to heavy-light quark decays, in order to obtain a signal earlier in the simulation, prior to loss of signal to noise (as currently occurs).
