Capacitive Deionisation for anion recovery from water
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Chemistry
Abstract
This project aims to develop new anion receptors for the recognition of anions (phosphate, nitrate, carbonate) in water. These receptors will then be attached to electrode surfaces for active anion removal by capacitive deionisation. To our knowledge, such a system has not been reported before. The project will involve organic synthesis, electrochemistry and aspects of electrochemical engineering. The project is relevant to EPSRC research areas in Electrochemical Sciences and Synthetic supramolecular chemistry.
