Fine mapping and characterisation of resistance to Septoria tritici blotch in winter wheat

Lead Research Organisation: University of Nottingham
Department Name: Sch of Biosciences

Abstract

Identifying, mapping and characterising novel resistance genes is extremely important to sustainably manage Septoria tritici
PhD project and objectives RAGT have identified a novel resistance gene in Winter Wheat
Fine mapping of an important UK STB resistance from RAGT Field study in Sutton Bonnington
100 lines of a population containing the gene and a population with the gene absent Determine the role of stomata in disease resistance or sceptibility, aiming at understanding the mechanism behind this resistance using two different inoculation methods Spray the plant Infiltrate Push spore solution into the apoplast
Further work Phenotyping my field study to perform QTLs, Assessing more lines under controlled environmental conditions,
Stomatal characteristics and spore behaviour experiments
