Reel-to-reel Processing of PET Film Using laser for Electronic Applications

Lead Research Organisation: CRANFIELD UNIVERSITY
Department Name: Sch of Aerospace, Transport & Manufact

Abstract

The proposed project seeks to adapt and improve upon technologies used in an already constructed reel-to-reel nanoimprint lithography machine, to create a similar setup for the use of laser processing of thin plastic films. Current batch processing is time consuming and achievable only in small quantities, whereas reel to reel processing offers the possibility of large scale, uninterrupted, consistent processing, with lower costs. With this, it is hoped we can achieve a process that is practicable, cost effective, and scalable to profitable commercial use, whilst still retaining high levels of quality.
