The design of artificial metalloenzymes with xenobiotic active sites

Lead Research Organisation: University of Birmingham
Department Name: Sport, Exercise & Rehabilitation Science

Abstract

In this PhD project, the de novo design of structured miniature enzyme scaffolds, is combined with the synthesis of non-natural amino acids, so as to realise new artificial metalloenzymes which feature xenobiotic active sites and are capable of catalysing chemical transformations beyond the repertoire of biology.
