Abstract
Topological quantum error-correcting codes are most often built out of qubits as elementary ingredients and hence are bosonic. In this project, we aim to study the properties of a complementary class of codes built out of Majorana fermions. These codes are fermionic, and they can in some sense be viewed as square roots of certain types of bosonic quantum codes and in some other sense as fermion-enriched double copies of different types of bosonic quantum codes. We shall investigate how such Majorana fermion codes establish new relations between the aforementioned bosonic code types as well as new features that have no bosonic counterparts.
