The synthesis of small cycloalkyl boronic esters
Lead Research Organisation:

Abstract
Small cycloalkyl boronic esters are valuable structural motifs in synthetic chemistry, owing to the spatial definition of substituents imparted by their ring strain-induced rigid carbon scaffold. The boronic ester can also act as a handle for further functionalisation.
Their stereocontrolled synthesis can be achieved through strain-release and ring expansion/contraction chemistry.
The synthesis of medicinally relevant substituted cyclobutyl boronic esters from easily accessible 5 membered ring boronate complexes via a ring contraction is to be investigated.
