Planning for the Future: Inhabiting and making inhabitable a new Palestinian City
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Cambridge
Department Name: Social Anthropology
Abstract
This doctoral thesis will focus on the newly built city of Rawabi as a locus around which imaginings and enactments of Palestine's 'modernisation' are produced, negotiated and problematised. It will draw theoretically upon recent developments in the anthropology of ethics and infrastructures to bring to light the ethical worlds of city residents, workers and visitors as they emerge through their practices of living within larger projects of Palestinian nation-building.
