Interacting stochastic systems and their limiting behaviour

Lead Research Organisation: University of Warwick
Department Name: Mathematics

Abstract

The project's focus lies in the field of interacting particle systems, an active
research area in probability theory. Its aim is to explain the limiting behaviour
of many body systems at large times and as the number of interacting
components grows. Interacting particle systems are basic models of complex
real-world systems with applications in various areas in physics, engineering
and biology. Emergent large scale phenomena in such systems are often difficult
to analyze, and the scope of the project is to provide conditions for the
underlying dynamics to be compatible with observations. The techniques used
originate from probability theory, functional analysis and the study partial
differential equations.
