National scale quantum key distribution network

The project will be in the general field of quantum key distribution. Here very low light levels are employed to enable secure communications over optical fibre, making use of the quantum nature of light. In particular the project will consider a relatively new form of quantum key distribution using continuous variables (so call CV-QKD). The project will
seek to improve the data rate and the transmission distance to allow national scale networks, a significant improvement over current approaches.
