Quantum communication theory

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sheffield
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

The University of Sheffield has PhD studentship opportunities in the Department of Physics and Astronomy with Dr. Pieter Kok on the topic of quantum information theory. The position starts in September 2019. Quantum technology is an emerging research field that promises to revolutionise communication and computing over the next few decades, and you will be contributing to both its foundations and applications with original theoretical physics research. You will be studying the creation of large networks of entangled qubits for communication, computation, and swarm sensing. The quantum theory group in Sheffield is a vibrant community of three permanent academics, six postdocs, and two PhD students. We are working on quantum computer science, quantum communication, computation and metrology, and quantum condensed matter theory.
