Application of clumped isotope paleothermometry and forward stratigraphic modelling to an unconventional reservoir study: Case study - Eagle Ford Shal

Lead Research Organisation: Imperial College London
Department Name: Earth Science and Engineering

Abstract

I am working with Dr Cedric John, Dr Annabel Dale (BP) and Dr Mark Osborn (BP) on the thermal history of oil shales. I am using a novel technique known as clumped isotope paleothermometry, which gives a proxy to temperature within carbonate rich sediments. Clumped isotope paleothermometry will be coupled with diffusive forward stratigraphic modelling, using a software known as DionisosFlow, to understand how unconventional resources develop from deposition to maturation.
