Program Synthesis From Type-Based Resource-Sensitive Specifications

Lead Research Organisation: University of Kent
Department Name: Sch of Computing

Abstract

have been fascinated by the topic of program synthesis since I first discovered it in the second year of my undergraduate degree at the University of Sussex. After completing both my undergraduate dissertation and a junior research internship on this topic, I now wish to contribute more meaningfully and to continue to pursue research in this area.

The proposed subject of research is one that I feel is extremely promising and would be of considerable benefit to the program synthesis and programming languages communities. Having a suitable background in this area has prepared me to undertake such research to a high degree of quality.

Furthermore, the academic research environment appeals strongly to me. The focus on intellectual stimulation and self discipline as well as the challenging nature of research are things that I greatly appreciate and feel I would take in my stride.

Finally, a PhD aligns strongly with my long term career goals as I hope to pursue a career in academic research. For these reasons, I believe a PhD is the most natural path for me to take and the research team at Kent is very impressive.
