Description As a result of the work funded through this award, the previous measurement of the signal strength for a Higgs boson produced in association with a top quark pair and decaying to a pair of b-quarks has been re-performed. This analysis was previously carried out on the full Run 2 dataset of the LHC, however a new analysis strategy was adopted with many major improvements to both the background systematics model and multivariate analysis approach. Currently, the analysis is on-going with the aim to publish the result in late summer, in which the recipient of this funding has been involved. This includes work on developing the profile likelihood fit model, i.e how we extract our result, work on background estimations and our overall understanding of the analysis phase space. Future work is anticipated to involve both combinations with over channels ( i.e over decay modes of the Higgs ),development of novel methods for Higgs reconstruction plus an Effective field theory reinterpretation of the final result.
Exploitation Route The result of the analysis will be useful for Higgs combination measurements and extracting from this the coupling of the Higgs boson to the the top quark, which could yield signs of physics beyond the standard model.
