Rapid follow-up of transients

Lead Research Organisation: Liverpool John Moores University
Department Name: Astrophysics Research Institute

Abstract

The Weizmann Institute for Science in Rehovot are building a set of two telescopes fitted with wide field camera which will be installed at the Wise Observatory in Mizpe Ramon. They will follow ZTF targets, as well as discovering transients of their own. The Liverpool Telescope is ideally located (same latitude, 3 hour delay in longitude) to take spectra of their most promising targets. The synergy between the two instrument can be exploted to produce a wealth of scientific data. The student will perform observations, analyze the results, and study the most interesting transients discovered and followed with the two instruments.
