3D printed electrochemical devices.

Abstract

In this project 3D printed electrochemical devices will be produced for sensing and fuel sell applications. Composites of nanomaterials and polymers will be tested for producing flexible devices in micro electrode formats.

An application will be towards microbial sensing and fuel cell applications using the redox activity of biofilms. In general, biofilm build-up is a problem in various areas such as stagnant water, pipeworks with small boreholes, water systems amongst others. Detecting and preventing biofilm formation in the first place is essential as once the biofilm forms antibiotics and biocides become less effective.
