Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Politics

Abstract

The military's use of social media for public outreach provides critical, unexplored insights into contemporary military power. This research will analyse how the British Army is exploiting social media, now an essential social institution, to situate itself positively within British life. The aim is to contribute to debates about the nature of military power and outreach and facilitate improvements in public engagement and military accountability by interrogating the Army's social media platforms.
