Faces and Places: How contextual factors influence the interpretation of facial expressions

Lead Research Organisation: University of Oxford
Department Name: Experimental Psychology

Abstract

My research focuses on how facial expressions - particularly smiles - are processed during social interaction, and the different contextual factors that affect how they are evaluated. In particular, I am interested in the social (rather than emotional) effects of smiles, and whether these effects on behaviour vary according to situational or dispositional characteristics.
