Abstract
Coco's ideas are still evolving, but the basics of her research will be exploring contemporary austerity discourses in two Ken Loach films, I, Daniel Blake and Sorry I Missed You.
She will compare them to Victorian discourses of poverty though a comparison with Charles Dicken's Little Dorritt and see how certain themes are recycled and reused politically. She will also use Waquant as a lens to examine notions of punishing the poor.
