Understanding the role of phosphohistidine in eukaryotic cells

Abstract
Phosphohistidine is an ubiquitous modification in bacterial cell signalling, however its function in eukaryotic cells has not been defined. In this project, we will develop the next generation of chemical tools to probe the biological importance of histidine phosphorylation in eukaryotic cells. These will then be used to develop new approaches to the identification of the function of the modification in candidate proteins.
