Harnessing Unconventional Molecular Interactions for Catalysis
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Warwick
Department Name: Chemistry
Abstract
This Ph.D. studentship will develop new approaches to catalysis by exploiting commonly overlooked chemical phenomena. In particular, the concept of sigma-holes will be used to develop Lewis acidic catalysts based on traditionally Lewis basic group 15-17 elements. The project will involve the design of new catalyst structures, their application in a range of transformations, and underpinning mechanistic studies.
