Abstract
My PhD deals with the development and construction of a next-generation ultracold atom experiment for studying homogeneous quantum systems. Degenerate Bose and Fermi gases have allowed access to previously unattained quantum regimes enabling the study of novel many-body phenomena, quantum phase transitions and non-equilibrium dynamics. This experiment in particular will host multiple species, both in their bosonic and fermionic form (39K,40K,41K, 85Rb , 87Rb), thus offering a highly flexible platform for the investigation of a range of topics including realising 2D quantum droplets and studying the dynamics of first and second order quantum phase transitions.
