Acceleration radiation in spacetime and in analogue spacetime
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Nottingham
Department Name: Sch of Mathematical Sciences
Abstract
The project will analyse Unruh's prediction of thermality due to acceleration in quantum field theory. Aspects to be addressed include the distinction between linear and circular acceleration, the effects due to nonzero ambient temperature, the effects due to finite time, and the effects due to finite spatial size. The mathematics will be developed with a view to prospective analogue spacetime realisations in laboratory experiments.
