Lead Research Organisation:
University of Oxford
Department Name: Geography - SoGE
Abstract
Drawing from critical social science - specifically Human Geography and Science and Technology Studies - this project will investigate the ways the term 'nature' is mobilized in climate discourse, and research how the term can be used to establish political power and economic benefit. It will examine which knowledges, ontologies and epistemologies (lay, expert, natural science, political) are shaping NBS, and sets out to answer these research questions:
1. How is the term 'nature' used by different epistemic groups in framing solutions to climate change?
2. How do different types of knowledge and expertise shape the development and implementation of NBS?
