Optically active spin qubits in transition metal dichalcogenides

Lead Research Organisation: University of Cambridge
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

My research goal is to build and develop a layered material platform for hosting optically active spin qubits. This has the potential for enabling high rates of entanglement between distant spins. This is important for quantum networks and could provide an optical interface for superconducting qubits. During my phd I will focus on building suitable heterostructures from 2d materials, understanding the optical selection rules of the optically active spin qubits and benchmarking their lifetime and coherence properties.
