Functionalisation of Boronic Esters

Lead Research Organisation: University of Bristol
Department Name: Chemistry

Abstract

Organoboron compounds are bench stable and generally inexpensive organometallic reagents with widespread application in a variety of fields such as pharmaceutical and materials chemistry. In their application, they are considered indispensable for synthetically challenging carbon-carbon bond formations, with the most famous example of this arguably being found in the Suzuki-Miyuara reaction. In this project we will explore the stereospecific conversion of boronic esters into simple and more functionalised enones. This involves the use of a 3-carbon building block based on allene reagents. The methodology will be applied to natural product synthesis.
