Plasmonic chips for the early detection of pancreatic cancer

Lead Research Organisation: Imperial College London
Department Name: Materials

Abstract

Plasmonic materials have very unique optical properties, including localised surface plasmon resonance. The aim of this project is to design and develop "metal enhanced fluorescence" platform technology, capable of increasing the signal coming from the fluorescent molecules by thousands of times, by exploiting the optical properties of designed plasmonic materials. The sensing chips based on metal enhanced fluorescence platform technology will be applied for early diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
