Abstract
The aim of this project is to investigate the arithmetic structure of Shimura varieties. The techniques to be used in this study will include etale cohomology, the theory of complex multiplication in higher dimensions and reduction theory of Shimura varieties. These investigations will then be applied to outstanding problems in number theory.
