Combining X-ray Free Electron Laser Probes of Chemical Dynamics

Abstract

New spectroscopic probes of photochemistry rely on new light sources. Developments in X-ray free electron laser technology provide a new suite of techniques that provide a new window onto complex chemical processes. In this project we will combine Valence shell photoelectron spectroscopy, with atom selective X-ray spectroscopy probes and structural probes utilising femtosecond X-ray scattering probes the study the photochemistry of small molecules in the gas phase.
