Elucidating the cellular targets of BoNT/X a potentially novel biopharmaceutical

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sheffield
Department Name: Biomedical Science

Abstract

The overarching aim of this project is to identify the intracellular pathways inhibited by BoNT/X and provide mechanistic insight into the toxins mode of action. This knowledge will not only help elucidate fundamental cellular processes that underpin normal physiology which are essential for life long health and wellbeing but also provide new knowledge which will be critical for assessing the therapeutic potential of this poorly characterised toxin.
