Measuring Neutrino Oscillations with the T2K Experiment

Lead Research Organisation: Lancaster University
Department Name: Physics

Abstract

The project will involve developing a new selection of (anti)neutrino interactions in the T2K near detector. This sample will be included in the fit to the near detector data used in the oscillation analysis

Description A new categorisation of antineutrino events in the T2K near detector has developed.  It is anticipated that the new selection will improve constraints on the flux and cross section models used in the T2K oscillation analysis.  Work has contributed to the design of aspects of the Hyper-Kamiokande outer detector and data acquisition systems.
Exploitation Route The new selection will be added to the main T2K analysis frameworks and used to obtain updated measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters in future iterations of the analysis.  The next-generation Hyper-Kamiokande detector is under construction and once operational, it will make precision measurements of neutrino oscillation parameters and search for CP-violation in the lepton sector.
