Investigation of metabolomic biomarkers of heart failure
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Leicester
Department Name: College of Lifesciences
Abstract
The aims of the project are to investigate changes in metabolite profiles of blood samples from patients with heart disease, namely heart failure, and identify potential biomarkers using both targeted and non-targeted liquid chromatography mass spectrometry (LCMS) metabonomics approaches. A new panel of biomarkers will be sought, validated and to be translated for potential clinical use including the role of short-chain fatty acid (SCFA) and related metabolites.
