Cosmological applications of group field theory

Abstract
This project deals with investigating the consequences of the group field theory approach to quantum gravity for cosmology. Concretely, it analyses models for which the Universe in cosmology is made up of many fundamental "quanta" described by excitations of the quantum field in group field theory. Previously such models where constructed for the special case in which the Universe is homogeneous and isotropic, which is a good but very simple approximation to the observed Universe. In this project we will extend this construction to include anisotropies and inhomogeneities, in order to make more realistic models of the Universe. One goal would be to extract observable consequences for the Universe.
