Integrated topological quantum photonics
Lead Research Organisation:
University of Sheffield
Department Name: Physics and Astronomy
Abstract
The project involves the design, simulation and measurement of on-chip quantum photonic systems that exploit the favourable properties of topological systems, including robust transport of light around tight bends, intrinsic backscatter immunity, and the potential to form chiral light-matter
interfaces. Advances in simulation will include the use of 'inverse design' to optimise topological nanophotonic systems and experiments will involve sophisticated quantum optical measurements, which in combination will open up new directions for the control of light-matter interactions at the
single photon level.
