Non-Photorealistic Rendering and Augmented Reality: A novel approach for real-time visualisations of real world environments

Lead Research Organisation: University of Sheffield
Department Name: Computer Science

Abstract

The project will investigate the combination of non-photo realistic rendering and augmented reality to produce real-time, immersive, stylised renderings of real world environments. Recent research work on neural style transfer will be investigated in order to produce the required effects, with challenges including maintaining plausible real world -virtual world combinations and 3D motion coherence during stylistic rendering. Sheffield's vibrant creative industries sector gives plenty of opportunities for collaborative work.
