Analysis of pi+pi- quasi-real photoproduction with CLAS12

Lead Research Organisation: University of Glasgow
Department Name: School of Physics and Astronomy

Abstract

The project will analyse data collected from the CLAS12 experiment based in Hall B, Jefferson Lab, US. The reaction of interest uses an electron beam on a proton target to produce mesons which subsequently decay to 2 pions. Here we detect small angle scattered electrons to provide a large flux of events in a new Forward Tagger providing quasi-real virtual photons. The pions are detected in the CLAS12 spectrometer. After reconstructing the particle four momentum an decay angle analysis will be performed to investigate which mesons were produced on the production process.
