New approaches for understanding climate change trends and variability in aggregate weather extremes
Lead Research Organisation:
UNIVERSITY OF EXETER
Department Name: Mathematics
Abstract
This PhD project will aim to develop new insight into trends in aggregate risk
of weather extremes (e.g. total storm severity over a season) by developing non-
stationary models of random sums. The methods will be applied to historical
European storm data as well as future climate change projections.
