Lead Research Organisation: UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON
Department Name: Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis

Abstract

This research aims to understand the impact of green infrastructure on the ecological biodiversity of cities as well as on social interactions. The project will deploy deep learning on edge computing devices to record environmental metrics. It will also engage with outdoors installation of IoT systems to understand how citizens experience green spaces. This approach aims to improve real-time spatial monitoring, as well as the successful design and maintenance of green infrastructure. A specific motivation that underpins "Gardens of Things" is to understand how digital technologies influence the environmental and digital literacy of communities.
