Abstract
Polar climate change are both impacted by and contribute significantly to climate change. Receding of the Arctic sea-ice is expected to have significant impact on the ocean meridional circulation thereby on the Atlantic weather system with significant implications for the UK coastal regions and weather patterns. Melting of ice-shelves in Greenland and Antarctica also have implications for the global sea level rise which impact the coastal regions almost immediately. This project aims to employ results from IPCC-class climate model outputs to quantify the polar climate change and their potential impacts on global coastal regions and weather patterns, with particular emphasis on the UK.
